China’s 1st self-developed superconducting cable has been put into operation in Shenzhen, the first of its kind used globally in a mega city center, signaling China’s comprehensive mastery of core technologies in design, manufacture & building of new-type superconducting cables.

A smart assembly line for the manufacturing of nanometer monocrystalline copper, the first of its kind in China, became operational in Wenzhou, E.China’s Zhejiang Province on Saturday, indicating one of the key materials for chipmaking has been able for mass production locally.

Chinese scientists recently reported a de novo route for artificial starch synthesis from carbon dioxide (CO₂) for the first time. Relevant results were published in Science on Sept. 24.

The new route makes it possible to shift the mode of starch production from traditional agricultural planting to industrial manufacturing, and opens up a new technical route for synthesizing complex molecules from CO₂.
