80% of the construction of the 1,117.5-meter cable-stayed bridge on Nanshagang Railway南沙港铁路 linking 4 cities江门、中山、佛山及广州 in S. China’s Guangdong was finished on Wed. The main span of the bridge is 600 meters, with double-line freight railways, making it the largest of its type in the world.

“Everest Portal” Tibet-China and Ali Grid Network Project 4R053 completed the construction of the power transmission line pylons at the junction of Rize Lazhi County 西藏日喀则拉孜县 , and Dingri County定日县, in Tibet. It sets a new record as the world’s highest ultra-high voltage grid construction at the altitude of 5259 meters.
  Gyatso La 嘉措拉山 is known as the “Gateway to Everest” because it is the pass between the Everest summits to reach the north slope. Yunnan Power Transmission and Transformation Network, the 500 kV transmission line pylons are part of the Ali network. The construction took more than 50 days from the excavation of foundation to the installation of the tower, the materials were all transported by horses, and the tower was set up by scaffolding. With a total length of 1689 kilometers. The line starts in Shigatse city in central Tibet and ends in Gar county in the Ali region. The average altitude is 4572 meters. It crosses the Yarlung Zangbo River three times and crosses over 5,000 meters of Kongtang Ram Mountain, Mayoumula Mountain. The line network consists of 66 towers, all situated above 5,000 meters above sea level. The environment is extremely harsh, with rocky hard pan, wind force reaching over 100 km/h, the temperature less than 20 degrees below zero, the thin atmosphere, makes it the most difficult section of the Ali network construction project.
  The tower was originally scheduled for completion on 5-1 “Labor Day”. With unexpectedly heavy snowfall, operations were suspended. The erection was finally complete by 11:30 a.m. on the 2nd.
 There were tens of thousands of workers involved in the construction, the overall project is now more than half completed. The main equipments delivered on-site, and more than 1,800 bases have been completed.
  Part of the “13th Five-Year Plan” to develope the unified power grid in Tibet,the operation is scheduled for 2021, to serve Zhongba, Saga, Jilong, Neramu, Puran, Kheuze and Zuoqin and other seven counties in the Ali region and western Rikaze. It will eventually interconnect with the national main grid.

The 312 meters 双江口水电站大坝 hydroelectric power station dam, the world’s highest dam, constructed by the national energy group Dadu River Company 大渡河公司 , sees the completion of 44 million cubic meters wall filling as the first phase of construction. Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station reservoir is located in the upper reaches of the Dadu River, located in Barkam, Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, is a key project of the National Electricity Development “13th Five-Year Plan”, features “high altitude, high dam, high ground stress, high flow rate, high slope, high cold”. The hydroelectric power station will have an installed capacity of 2 million kilowatts, with a normal reservoir level of 2,500 meters and a total reservoir capacity of 2,897 million cubic meters. The whole project consists of a dam, a flood relief building, a water diversion power generation system, and other facilities.

A capsule-shaped bulk-cargo warehouse in Yueyang

A capsule-shaped bulk-cargo warehouse met the public recently in Yueyang, China’s Hunan after finishing the capping of the project. The warehouse, which is about 470 meters in length, 110 meters in width and 46.5 meters in height, is scheduled to be put into operation in a more environment friendly way on April 25.

China-Laos Railway (Vientiane–Boten Railway): Construction fully resumes of international corridor. A key tunnel on the China-Laos Railway (China section) was completed on 4-19-20 morning after three years and eight months of construction. The 4.6-km-long tunnel has a supersized cross-section, reserved space for an additional railway line in the future.

At present, construction has been resumed in all work sites of Yuxi-Mohan Railway, with 22,896 workers on duty, an increase of 21% over the number before the Spring Festival. On 15 February, the Lixin Tunnel was successfully created, and on 13 March, Wanhe Tunnel, the first 10,000-m long tunnel in the whole railway was successfully bored. The boring-through of Malizhai Tunnel on 15 March has played a positive role in promoting the full resumption of the whole railway’s normal construction. As of 25 March, the total investment for Yuxi-Mohan Railway had reached RMB 37.1 billion, and 93%, 80% and 86% of subgrade, bridge and tunnel works on the railway had been completed.

Cross-river rail bridge takes China-Russia trade to new heights

The first cross-river railway bridge connecting China with Russia has connected from both sides on Wednesday, further paving the way for the bridge to be operational within this year.

The bridge, across the Heilongjiang River, known as the Amur River in Russia, will connect the city of Tongjiang, in northeastern China’s Heilongjiang province, with Nizhneleninskoye in Russia.

The main bridge spans 2,215 meters, with 1,886 meters of that standing in China. Construction of the bridge, which has a designed annual throughput capacity of 21 million metric tons, began in February 2014.
