China Launches 1st Space Station Science Module

In the early morning of July 13, Long March 3B lifted the Skychain II-03 satellite into the sky, adding another satellite to China’s Skychain 天链. The Xichang Satellite Launch Center is also affectionately known as the “Skychain Home Port”. Since the construction of the Skychain satellite system, all of China’s Skychain satellites have been successfully launched from the center, making an important contribution to the building of a strong space nation.
A Long March-4C carrier rocket lifted off at 11 pm on Mon from China’s Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, sending to orbit Gaofen-12(03) satellite that will be used for land census, urban planning, road network design, crop yield estimation and disaster prevention & mitigation.
China successfully sent five satellites into space from the East China Sea on April 30. The five satellites, including the Jilin-1 Gaofen 03D, were launched by a Long March-11 carrier rocket at 11:30 Beijing Time and have entered the planned orbit. The newly-launched satellites will provide commercial remote sensing data services for sectors including land resource survey, urban planning and disaster monitoring. This mission is China’s third sea-based launch mission, which further expanded the maneuvering range of maritime launch and accumulated technological expertise for future long-distance sea-based launch missions. The mission’s success will lay cornerstones for normalized and high-frequency launches at sea in the future.
